The Recreation Commission

Eight residents serve, each appointed to a two-year term running 1 July to 30 June. The Commission holds authority to operate, provide, maintain and supervise every recreational facility owned, controlled or administered by the Town of Maxton.

This is the Town of Maxton's own citizen board application, and you can fill it in here rather than coming to Town Hall. Attach or mention a résumé if you have one — it is welcome but not required.

Who decides. Seats are appointed by the Town of Maxton, not by this Commission. What you send here goes to the Recreation Commission, who pass it to the Town Clerk for the Board of Commissioners. If you would rather deliver it yourself, take it to Town Hall at 201 McCaskill Avenue or post it to PO Box 99, Maxton, NC 28364.

Under Sec. 2-143 of the Town Ordinances, I authorize the Town of Maxton, its employees, agents or contractors to obtain a confidential records check, including a criminal background check as allowed under state and federal law, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I give this authorization voluntarily and understand what it means.

If appointed, I will attend the required number of meetings each year and will not exceed the unexcused absences allowed by that board's by-laws or rules.

I understand that on appointment to a board or committee the information in this application becomes a matter of public record under N.C.G.S. 132-1, and that applications stay active for six months from the date the Town Clerk receives them.
